IPad VS Blackberry Playbook
IPad is definitely the benchmark of tablets, ushering a grand tablet era. The keyword “iPad” will invariably appear in almost all the related articles about the newly announced or launched tablets. For instance, tablets no better than iPad can be called iPad clone, such like Cherrypad America; tablets can match with iPad in some ways can be named as iPad competitors, iPad rival or iPad contender, such as Dell Streak, Samsung Galaxy, HP Slate and Advent Vega. How about tablets better than iPad? What can we call it? There is no specific name for it since up till now no tablet can really threat the unique place of iPad. If any, we may as well call it “iPad beyonder”. Can Blackberry, now heated discussed, be dubbed as “iPad beyonder”?
In terms of some specs, Blackberry Playbook, as a latecomer and standing on the shoulder of giant, is indeed more appealing than iPad, such as the much merited multitasking, forward and rear cameras, powerful two-core processor, multimedia, flash support, which iPad does not have. The fact that iPad does not have these features does not mean that it will not have in the near feature. What Blackberry Playbook does not mention in its specs is the battery life and storage. Whether Blackberry Playbook can offer a long enough battery life, say as long as 10 hours running time like iPad, remains a question. Apps is also an important aspect that Blackberry Playbook may not compete with IPad.
How about the competition between Blackberry Playbook and iPad in tablet market? Powerful and attracting as Blackberry Playbook is, there is no possibility that it will snatch the customers of Apple iPad. We know how loyal Apple fans are to iPad and iphone and the fans group seems growing. In addition, some PC and smartphone makers are going to launch their own tablets next year, like Asus, Lenovo and HTC. How fierce the competition will be? It’s actually not optimistic for Blackberry Playbook while iPad will still be able to maintain its status due to the existing prestige and influence.
Final conclusion: Blackberry is not yet an iPad beyonder, but an iPad competitor at most; Blackberry Playbook should show off more powerful weapons before they finally get that title.
