Meizu M9 vs HTC Desire

Meizu M9 finally met the customers at the first day of the new year in the flagship stores in Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai of Meizu, attracting long lines of people to purchase. It seems that the not so affordable Meizu M9, 379$ for 8G and $409 for 16G, do not cool people’s zeal for this new phone. Labeled almost the same pricetag, HTC Desire is also a very competitive and popular phone and maintains its perennial popularity. Now let’s see which is more eye-catching and worthwhile to buy one.

Meizu M9 HTC Desire
Processor Samsung S5PC110 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1GHz
Operating system Android 2.2 Android 2.2
Display Chipset PowerVR SGX540 Adreno 200
Display 3.5’’ capacitive touchscreen 3.7’’ capacitive touchscreen
Camera 5MP, Sharp ASV screen, with 960*640 resolution 5MP, Super LCD screen, with 480*800 resolution
Running Memory 512MB 576MB
Dimension 113×59.8×11.2mm 119×60×11.9mm
Weigh 123g 135g

We might not get some concrete ideas only based on the above specs. Here come some details. Though running android Froyo, Meizu M9 does not have as good flash playback performance as HTC Desire. You will find that Meizu M9 cannot play the flash on some webpages while HTC Desire does very well in flash playback. What can also be counted as a shortcoming is that Meizu M9 does not support landscape mode tapping.

As for photographing, neither of them can be considered satisfactory enough, in terms of clear picture quality and good color representation which an excellent phone is suppose to have. Meizu M9 has more bright colors while the pictures taken by HTC Desire look more real. It would be better if Meizu M9 has a LED flash.

Meizu M9 shows its great appeal when it comes to video playback. With PowerVR SGX540 as display chipset, Meizu M9 is able to play impressively videos of 720*480 pixels, 1280*720 pixels, 1920*900 pixels, while HTC Desire can only play video of 720*480 pixels.

So these two phones have their own features and merits respectively to attract customers who have different demand. Choose one that suits you best!

It is well known that we often use our cell phone or tap our text in a portrait mode. But now more and more mobile devices enables us to do our tapping in landscape mode, or hold the cell phone in a horizontal way.
