Freescale Imx515 chipset is popular for its capability of sporting smooth online flash playback and maintaining stable performance for the tablet but is also infamous for the intermittent bugs. Comprehensively speaking, the merit of Freescale chipset outweighs the demerit, hence the prevailing popularity. Now that android 2.2 tablet PCs based on Freescale iMX515 have been so widespread, it is high time to intro an android 2.3 version.
The good thing for low-end tablet is that they become more and more well-made in construct as well as in design judging from the look and feel. This android 2.3 Freescale tablet is bestowed a better coat compared with its siblings. The sleek black front and delicate white back constitute a proper suit. An ample area on the right are set to accommodate a camera and the three common touch keys, marked noticeably for use of Home, Back and Menu, though we would like a more narrow frame and a broader screen.
No buttons or ports can be seen on the surrounding sides except the right one. There is a power switch, a Reset hole, a 20-pin port for charging and USB, a mini USB, a preserved SIM card slot, a microSD card slot and a 3.5mm earphone jack.
Though the system info shows that it runs android 2.3.3, we do not find obvious changes in UI.
Various apps are preload and placed in good array just like its processor. Among the apps menu, we can find three popular preloaded games, Angry birds, Fruit Ninja and Speed Forge 3D. The inconvenience may lie in the resistive touchscreen, but luckily it sport two-finger touch.
The QuickOffice may be valued by those who would like their tablet able to view and edit the common formats of files like PDF, Excel, Doc, and also PPT.
Thought this tablet does not offer 3D page turning in e-book reading, it is able to compensate with rich e-books downloading.
If you are in mood, you can also write something down by your finger or with a stylus. But I see nowhere to spot a stylus on the tablet.
This tablet does a fairly good job in capturing Wifi signals here which have been poorly weak around. So it feels not so tough to load on the various webpages.
Though some bugs do appear during use, they can be fixed simply with a restart. But its ability to sport fluent multimedia playback is always an advantage. So whether it is worth a try depends on your decision.
