TransPhone CMIT
Asus’s slogan “Pad or Phone” for its next new product has been tantalizing us as to what innovative design this mysterious shall take. Though this phonelet will cast it wrap soon on the occasion of Computex 2011 in Taipei, we are able take a good look at what this Padfone looks like from the leaked out pictures earlier than its official debut. Based on the revealed images, Padfone is designed with a phone-dimensioned area on the back to accommodate a smartphone, which turns to a host of the tablet with the help of HDMI and USB ports.
However, just one day before the leakage of Padfone’s pictures, a smartphone called TransPhone announced by CMIT, a new smartphone manufacturer, makes us wonder how similar the design conception is between Padfone and TransPhone in spite of some palpable differences in detail. TransPhone also features a design of inserting a smartphone into a larger form factor and transforming to a tablet PC. TransPhone sports a 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor and a SVGA display. Also, TransPhone will also offer the uniqueness in OS, UI, software and apps.

The coincidence of TransPhone and Padfone indicates a new trend to integrate smartphone and tablet PC, but there might be some actual challenges in compatibility of operating system and the adjustment of display resolution between two form factors.
