Sony Ericsson’s intensive and determinate efforts in android-based smartphone have generated two fresh fruits, Xperia Ray and Xperia Active, announced on Sony CMMA 2011 in Singapore. These two gorgeous handsets inherit the characters of Xperia series phone, the snappy design and sound specs. Xperia Ray features a 3.3 inch FWVGA capacitive touchscreen, android 2.3, a 1GHz Qualcomm QSD 8255 CPU, Adreno 205 GPU, 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM, an 8.1MP camera capable of 720p video recording. All these contents are cased in a fairly slime figure of 9.4mm in depth. Four color options for Ray are offered when it will hit the market, black, gold, white and pink.

As for Xperia Active, the most impressive feature for this device is the sound capability of water-proof, which enables Active to work under sweaty or watery circumstances. The specs of Xperia Active, though a little lit humbler than its sibling Ray but still appearing competitive, include a 3 inch HVGA capacitive display, a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, also android 2.3, a 5MP camera enabling 720p video recording, sporting functionalities like Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS, E-compass and etc. Black and white will be the color options for Active.

Xperia Ray and Active will be available in the market in Q3 this year with prices presumably slightly lower than Xperia Arc.
