It would be an understatement to say that ZTE is only an amateur of smartphone vendor. The truth is that like other traditional mobile phone makers, ZTE is also able to bring some well-performing and reasonably-priced handsets, with a series of android-based smartphones and tablet PCs as good proof. ZTE Blade V880 is one of those successful attempts.
Blade V880 appears inconspicuous with its mundane grey color and modest design, contrary to what its moniker suggests, bright and incisive. Cased with plastic material, Blade V880 feels slightly light in the hand with its 115g in weight. The 3.5 inch display covers across the front, with three narrow buttons below for Home, Menu and Back. Volume Up/Down buttons on the right side blend with the metal frame with a 5-pin port on the opposite side. On the top accommodates the power button and a 3.5 mm earphone jack while the back is marked by a 3.2MP camera and the logo of ZTE.

The resolution of 480*800 suffices enough for a 3.5 inch touchscreen. And the two-finger touch, though seeming humble, enables you to do pinch-and-zooming when you play games and view images. The 3.2MP rear camera with autofocus will meet most our demands if we are not so picky about the clearness of the pictures.

The apps menu of Blade V880 is peppered with a variety of colorful various apps, superfluous more than necessary, almost half of which are games. Things are obvious that Blade is majorly used to entertain and have fun. V880 is powered by a 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 chip set, which drives this phone to perform rather fluently and fast when I do operations like making calls, texting and playing music files. But it seems that some video files cannot be successfully played. The fast switching between games (I do this intentionally to test its speed) sometimes leads to the slow response or a short while of freezing on the screen, but in our normal use, things like this seldom happen. All in all, ZTE Blade V880 is an android smartphone well worth its affordable price, a very good choice for those who are looking for a mid-end handset.
