Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be released in Australia despite Apple complaint
Samsung has put out a distinctly unafraid-looking statement declaring that a “Galaxy Tab 10.1 for the Australian market will be released in the near future,” despite Apple’s attempt to halt sales through the Aussie Federal Court. The Korean company says that the settlement between it and Apple was “a mutual agreement” rather than a court injunction. That agreement only concerns the contentious US version of the slate, whereas the Australian variant is presumably different so as to avoid infringing Apple patents.
Samsung, therefore, will push ahead with its Galaxy Tab 10.1 launch schedule, saying that the 10-inch model will be released soon. A hearing in Australia has been scheduled for August 29 to review the status … Continue
Grefu p97: 9.7 Inch Windows 7 Slate
When it comes to 9.7-inch tablet PCs, things grow unavoidable for them to look somehow like iPad in this or that way despite completely different contents insides. For a non-iPad slate of 9.7 inch or 10.1 inch, a combination of Tegra 2 chip and Android or Intel core and Windows 7 may be popular choice for tablet PC makers, and Grefu P97 obviously belongs to the latter.
Cased entirely with metallic materials and iPad-like design, the appearance of Grefu P97 looks modest, receiving nor criticism or compliment. The only button in the front marked with the logo of Windows explicitly demonstrates that what OS P97 runs. Alas, a free ad for Windows 7 on tablet PCs? Solid hardware … Continue
Winpad: an iPad-like Tablet Based on X86
The challenge for those iPad clones lies most possibly in the slim depth and light heft for iPad 2 is really something “thinner and lighter”. Of course, I am not going to mention the comparison of functionality; that’s really something between heaven and earth. Winpad is of this kind due to its too familiar appearance. Compared with iPad 2’ 601g, Winpad may look a little plumper with a heft of 900g but still much slimmer than other X86-based tablet PCs.
Winpad comes with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor, a 10 inch capacitive touchscreen, sporting dual systems, Win 7 and android 2.2. There will be two versions in terms of internal storage, 1GB of RAM and 16GB … Continue
Doolax: 9.7 Inch IPS Freescale Android 2.2 Tablet
The craziness for iPad 2 rife in every country readily manifests that iPad has consolidated its unique place of being the number one in tablet PC and kicked off its competitors with little effort. But still, we will feel glad to see more variants of iPad keep popping out. Doolax, awkwardly full-named as Doolax Tagi Mid-988, is 9.7 inch android tablet PC which will be pigeonholed as an iPad clone due to the similar size and also familiar app icons with strong “Apple” flavor.
Doolax’s specs seem very regular, neither spectacular to make a stir nor disappointing to fall in the dust. It is powered by an 800MHz Cortex-A8 Freescale iMX515 processor and runs android … Continue
7-Inch Android 2.2 Tablet PC with Internal GPS looks like HTC Smartphone
Well, while tablet PC market is less and less glutted with iPhone cloned slates, we know that the appearance of tablets evolve to diversification. I am not referring to some reform in design but mean a shifting of attention solely on iPad. Now that customers grow tired of slates of iPad look, why not design them as something like, say iPhone 4 or various branded smartphones? Though this still sounds short of creativity, it is better than that all the tablet PCs are like twins. So don’t show expression of cynicism at the sight of a HTC smartphone-like tablet PC.
This tablet resembles a larger version of a HTC smartphone in look. It comes … Continue
Flytouch 3 Sees the Rise of 10-Inch Android Tablet
Flytouch really lives up to its name and soars to popularity at an amazing pace. Flytouch 2 didn’t receive much attention last year and only few manufacturers chose it as the platform. Things have changed with some visible signs so much so that many tablet makers are swarming to manufacture Flytouch 2. Indeed, with much similar configuration as Zenithink ZT-180 ePad, Flytouch 2 has some pleasing improvement in some essential aspects.
First of all, Flytouch 2, packed with a 10.1-inch display, not only comes with almost the same size as iPad and but also looks much like iPad, which can be considered a very successful iPad knockoff. The second is the excellent video playback decoding capability, … Continue
Epad Gets Upgraded Again: Flytouch 3 Is Coming
You might be very familiar with Flytouch 2, also known as Epad, Super pad and even apad-style tablet PC. Featuring a 10.1’’ display, Superpad flytouch 2 resembles iPad much, gaining a sales as satisfactory as ZT180 epad ever since its hitting in the market. Flytouch 2 stores a 1GHz ARM11 Infotm iMAPX220 processor, android 2.1, 256MB of DDRⅡ. Built-in GPS and Outer antenna make this superpad very popular among those users with cars.
Now the upgraded Flytouch 3 has hit the market already. Superpad flytouch 3 sports android 2.2, with support of flash 10.1 and the memory has increased to 512MB. For other configuration, you can refer to Flytouch 2, like 4GB of internal storage, 10.1’’ resistive … Continue
9.7 Inch iPad-like Window Tablet With 3G Hit the Market Competitively
This 9.7 windows slate with 3G I will focus on today is bound to be called as an iPad knockoff or iPad clone, which has almost the same shall as iPad. I can’t help sniffing a little: do those tablets really have to take the look of iPad? Or is it really so difficult to make a big transformation on the design of tablets. I am a little cynical now. A little different from the 9.7 inch android tablet I reviewed a few days ago, this 9.7 iPad clone runs Windows 7 instead of android OS.
The specs include Intel Z515 dual core 1.2, Intel US15W chipsets, 1G DDR, 16G SSD, 9.7 inch IPS capacitive … Continue
Blackberry Playbook: An iPad competitor or “iPad beyonder”?
IPad is definitely the benchmark of tablets, ushering a grand tablet era. The keyword “iPad” will invariably appear in almost all the related articles about the newly announced or launched tablets. For instance, tablets no better than iPad can be called iPad clone, such like Cherrypad America; tablets can match with iPad in some ways can be named as iPad competitors, iPad rival or iPad contender, such as Dell Streak, Samsung Galaxy, HP Slate and Advent Vega. How about tablets better than iPad? What can we call it? There is no specific name for it since up till now no tablet can really threat the unique place of iPad. If any, we may … Continue
